Many of those who own a holiday home do so with two things in mind, to spend quality time making memories with their loved ones, or to take a well deserved break from the every day rat-race, which is incredibly important for our health and wellbeing.  For either reason, we believe Cornwall to be the ideal destination for your holiday home – and here’s just a few reasons why…

The Beaches

Cornwall has some of the best beaches in the UK.  From wide and sandy bays with clear turquoise waters to rival those in the Caribbean, to the steep-cliffed, boulder-strewn with wild Atlantic waves crashing against them, there’s every kind of beach you could wish for.  Whether you’re planning on topping up the tan and soaking up the rays, or getting your waterproofs to go paddle boarding, it’s always a great day out to visit the beach!

There are some fantastic beaches just around the corner from Oaklands Park, just let us know what you are looking for and our team will be happy to help point you in the right direction!

Coastal Walks

Cornwall is famous for miles and miles of stunningly beautiful coastline, helpfully marked out with public paths, so you can make the most of the views and have a fantastic day out exploring.  Along the South Coast you can walk from Newlyn to Penzance – which shows off St Michael’s Mount, do the seven mile Lizard coastal walk, or even walk from Land’s End to Sennen Cove.

Owners at Oaklands can also walk from the park, through the picturesque Kilminorth Woods to Looe.  Kilminorth is a Local Nature Reserve, with an abundance of species of trees, plants, and animals to spot throughout the year.  Beautiful throughout the seasons, in the spring it is particularly magnificent, with colourful banks of primroses and bluebells, providing a truly glorious walking route.

Pasties & Cream Teas…

No visit to Cornwall is complete without a pasty!  This westerly county is the proud producer of some VERY delicious food, not least being the Cornish pasty and clotted cream, smothered on a scone with jam, (yum!).  Wherever you are in Cornwall, traditional pasties and cream tea shops are never far away.  Come and have a chat with us to find out our favourite places for these taste sensations!

Eden Project St. Austell

Tropical Gardens

Due to its position, Cornwall has a particularly balmy climate thanks to the Gulf Stream.  As well as the obvious joy copious amounts of sunshine brings to its visitors, it also means that sub-tropical plants are able to grow well – with palm trees being a common sight here, helping give the feel of a tropical holiday!  The best places to appreciate this are the awe-inspiring Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project, both just a short drive from the park.

Polperro Harbour in Looe

Fishing Villages & Harbours

More or less everywhere you turn in Cornwall, there is a postcard-perfect town that will make you dream of upping sticks from city living to the seaside. Some of the best include: St Ives, which has always attracted an arty crowd and has its own Tate Gallery; the quaint harbour of Charlestown is one for die-hard Poldark lovers, and Penzance is a town on the up with smart restaurants, cool hotels and a contemporary art scene.  Then there is of course Polperro, Oaklands Park’s local fishing village, with a beautiful harbour and plenty of quaint, pretty buildings, shops, cafe’s and restaurants to enjoy.
